Welcome to Drama! My name is Mrs. Jackson, and my goal is to facilitate student learning in an energetic, polite, and supportive environment. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS IMPERATIVE TO YOUR SUCCESS IN CLASS. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

Policies and Procedure:
Be in class when the bell rings
Follow directions the first time they are given, actively participate
Verbally and physically respect yourself, classmates, and your teacher.
NO electronic devices are allowed to be visible during class time (it will be confiscated), unless approved for certain projects.
Take risks, be open to change. PARTICIPATE!!!!!
Supplies Needed:
Separate notebook or composition book for journal writing and Note taking
folder for handouts and completed assignments
Pencil/pen/highlighter
Grading: Journal/note-taking Class Participation/HW=Daily Projects/Tests=When assigned
RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
RESPECT
You MUST collaborate – respect each other and be sensitive to each others ideas, opinions, and property.
Thinks before you act – CHOOSE KINDNESS – Bullying will NOT be tolerated. There is room for everyone in the theatre.
Use appropriate language: absolutely NO SWEARING, name calling, or verbal/physical abuse is allowed.
No food or drink (water ONLY is OK)
Clean your workspace before leaving.
Cell phones will be allowed on a project-basis ONLY – no other uses.
Include EVERYONE – participate fully and PLAY (in control of course)!!!
RESPONSIBILITY
Take ownership of your behavior, workspace and actions
Report to class ON TIME with all required materials and wait to be dismissed before leaving. Be in your seat or workspace when the bell rings
Be prepared on performance daysTurn in assignments ON TIME (or early if possible). Very few exceptions will be made for late work.
Keep your personal belongings and valuables out of sight and safe.
Dress appropriately, especially on performance days. This class is very physical and you will want to avoid revealing or restrictive clothing.
Treat Dressing Rooms and bathrooms with respect and do not abuse their use. We can restrict access at any time.
EFFORT
This is as close to an “A for Effort” class you will find.
You must work inside and outside of class in order to be completely successful in this course.
Accept assignments without complaints and try your best at everything – keep an open mind.
Cheating of any kind will NOT be tolerated. Any form of plagiarism or cheating on any assignment, quiz, test, or project will result in an immediate “F”, a parent conference, referral to the discipline office, and possible dismissal from the class.
You will get out of this class what you put into it..
NO cell phone, ipod or any other electronic device allowed unless by special permission. If used during any other time, these items may be confiscated. YOU ARE NOW DULY WARNED!!!!!
FINAL NOTE: Making beautiful theatre is a team effort, and we must collaborate and enjoy our time with each other. We may have differences of opinion, but remain respectful in dealing with each other, and with me. Keep the Drama to “THEATRE”, and not Drama issues with each other. I know that change is difficult, but together we can create MAGIC!!! Believe in yourselves as individuals, learn to trust each other, study your craft, and enjoy the ride!!!
