LETTERING IN DRAMA In order to Letter in Drama at SHS, a student must have at least the following:
1. Participate in 75% of the all of the main stage shows (Not counting children’s show) These shows include: Night of ComedyMIFAMusical
2. Join International Thespian Society (ITS), and have at least 30 ITS points.
3.Earn an individual excellent or superior in a competitive theatre experience (MIFA or META – Thespians Festival)
4. One of the following: Either 1 ½ semesters of Theater Class OR 2 years participation in Thespian Festival
5. There will be an awarding of these Letters (paid for by Mr. Cucchi) at the Senior Showcase in normal years. This year we may either be having a virtual ceremony, or an awards ceremony/picnic to be held this summer once things settle down.
(Nomination for a Letter is also at the discretion of Mrs. Jackson. Worthy candidates not meeting all requirements can possibly under special circumstances be awarded a Theatre Letter.)
What I need to do:
1. Read the information on the link below. Please not that we do not use the point/ribbon/pins, but we use the calculation of points to assign Graduation cords.
2. Once you have reached 10 points total, you are eligible for induction into ITS. Send this completed file (above) back to Mrs. Jackson ([email protected]). 3. Wait for an induction invitation Letter to arrive (via email this year).
4. Once it does, please send a check for $20 ** written to Stevenson High School with your students name and ITS in the memo. This fee is normally $35, but Mr. Cucchi has subsidized us the extra $15 per member. Send to:
Stevenson High School c/o Cheryl Jackson 39701 Dodge Park Rd. Sterling Hts., MI 48313
What are the benefits of being a member of International Thespian Society?
1. As a senior, you qualify for graduation cords (paid for by the Boosters), depending on how many points you have earned. 2. You qualify for eligibility in being awarded a Theatre Letter 3. You qualify for discounts on merch at ITS website and Thespian Festival (this helps the troupe save money) 4. You are permitted to apply and audition for special scholarship opportunities at the Michigan Thespian Festival if you plan to major or Minor in Theatre. 5. Great for a resume builder for college, even if you are not a theatre major.
(**Any student with extreme financial need please contact Mrs. Jackson)
